The Goldendoodle
Temperament: Highly intuitive, eager to please, and generally more "dog-like" and interactive. They love being part of family activities.
Size: Even our Petite Minis feel a bit more robust. They range from 15 lbs up to 65+ lbs for Standards.
Best For: Active families, those wanting a walking/hiking companion, and homes looking for a highly trainable, versatile dog.
The Cavapoo
Temperament: The ultimate lap dog. They are deeply affectionate, slightly more clingy ("velcro dogs"), and incredibly gentle.
Size: Typically much smaller, usually ranging from 10 to 20 lbs. They have a lighter, more delicate bone structure.
Best For: Apartment living, seniors, or families who primarily want a snuggle companion rather than a fetch partner.
The Golden Retriever
Temperament: Unwaveringly loyal, friendly, and reliable. Known as the ultimate family dog, they are sweet-natured and playful.
Size: A larger, sturdy breed. Females typically range from 55-65 lbs, while males generally weigh 65-75+ lbs.
Best For: Active households, families with young children, and those wanting a highly devoted, classic companion dog.
Male vs. Female
Many families come to us convinced they want a female puppy. While females are wonderful, we highly encourage families to be open to males—especially if they primarily want an affectionate dog.
Females tend to be slightly more independent, observant, and "busy." They love you, but they are often content to lay on the other side of the room and watch what's going on. They can mature slightly faster.
Males (once neutered) are often the more affectionate, goofy, and "needy" of the two sexes. They tend to be highly food motivated, eager to please, and want to be right by your side (or on your feet).
Our Advice: Choose the puppy whose energy and personality matches your family, rather than focusing strictly on gender!
Are Doodles Truly Hypoallergenic?
No dog is 100% hypoallergenic, as allergies are often triggered by dander or saliva, not just hair. However, Goldendoodles and Cavapoos are considered highly allergy-friendly because their Poodle heritage results in hair that grows (like human hair) rather than fur that sheds out.
If you have severe allergies, an F1B or F1BB generation (which has a higher percentage of Poodle) is typically your safest choice, as they possess the most consistently curly, non-shedding coat type.
