Elite Goldendoodle Breeding Standards

The Canterbury Standard

What makes an elite Goldendoodle breeder? For over two decades, we have set the gold standard in ethical breeding, comprehensive health testing, and advanced puppy curriculums.

Why Ethical Breeding Matters

When you bring a puppy into your home, you're not just buying a pet; you're adding a family member who will be with you for 10-15 years. The foundation of those years is built long before the puppy is born.

At Canterbury Canines, we are fiercely dedicated to the long-term health and temperament of our dogs. This means we never cut corners. Every parent dog in our program is rigorously health tested, ensuring they are free from genetic diseases, joint dysplasia, and other hereditary conditions common to Retrievers and Poodles.

  • OFA Hips, Elbows, and Cardiac Testing
  • Full Genetic Disease Panels (Embark/PawPrint)

Early Neurological Stimulation for Puppies

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)

The first 16 days of a puppy's life are critical for their neurological development. We implement the "Super Dog" program, originally developed by the U.S. military, to give our puppies a lifelong advantage.

From days 3-16, we guide each puppy through a series of specific, gentle exercises. This Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) has been scientifically proven to improve cardiovascular performance, strengthen the immune system, and increase their tolerance to stress.

The Result?

Puppies that mature into calmer, more confident, and healthier adult dogs who are highly adaptable to new environments and families.

Guardian Homes: The Ethical Alternative

We are entirely kennel-free. We believe that dogs deserve to be cherished family members, sleeping in beds and going on hikes, not living in concrete runs.

Through our Guardian Home program, our parent dogs live in loving, permanent homes with local families. They come back to us only for breeding and whelping. This ensures that every dog in our program receives the one-on-one love and attention they deserve while allowing us to maintain impeccable breeding standards without ever overcrowding our home.
